Debate - Ben Sollinger

As a member of the dark side, I feel the need to comment on the moderator, Lester Holt. During the debate, Lester seemed to begin with control, asking Donald Trump for “specifics” on certain questions. But, as the debate when on, he started to lose control. Later on, when Trump kept interrupting Clinton, Lester became powerless. No one could have stated this better than Larry Wilmore in a tweet saying “Lester Holt's got that cool substitute teacher vibe going.” Lester was left helpless, not being able to put a stop to Trump’s multiple interruptions. Lester, did, however, have a good patch in the middle of the debate. Lester brought up the topic of race, which was received well by the audience. He then took it a step further and fact-checked Trump when talking about the stop-and-frisk and whether it was unconstitutional. He then brought up the birther “problem”, attacking Trump on his distrust of our current Commander in Chief. As soon as he had come back to life in the debate, Lester Holt disappeared again. He even let the debate run 10 minutes long, which caused some angry audience members to take to twitter and rant about it.

The most interesting part was after the fact, Trump said that Lester did a good job. This confused everyone because not only were his moderating skills being questioned, it was also claimed that he was bias, and that his questions were one-sided.
