What a Clinton Supreme Court Would Mean for America- Caroline Springer

Conservative author William Bennett analyzes what will happen if Hillary Clinton is elected president and appoints a liberal judge to the supreme court. He addresses topics such as immigration, transgender bathrooms, abortions, and other controversial issues traditionally supported by liberals. Bennett’s strongest argument against Clinton being elected is that  it would give her the power to appoint a new supreme court judge. He discusses how each issue will play out in the supreme court with a majority of liberal justices on the bench. He argues that immigrants without papers would be allowed to stay in the country on work permits, transgender people will be allowed to use the bathrooms of their choice, gun laws would become stricter, the effect on the fossil fuel industry, and abortion laws would change and how each of these issues would weaken our country.
Anyone who is voting in the upcoming election should definitely consider what kind of person the next president will bring into the supreme court, as this latest appointee could be a critical factor in deciding legal action.   For a  number of the issues presented by Bennett, the outcome was based on a single vote. The court is split pretty evenly between liberal and conservative judges. Voters need to consider the beliefs of their candidate and how the person they appoint most likely has the same beliefs. The supreme court will be doing their job over the next four years and hopefully  issues will be resolved and changed. If you want to see certain pressing issues that is before the court settled in a certain manner, know your candidate, and vote for whoever you believe will choose a judge that reflects your political orientation.
The constitution give the supreme court power to check the actions of the president and congress, as discussed in chapter one. This is a critical job of the court. Government officials must act within the limits of the law, and the supreme court is set up to ensure that it does. Citizens must choose a candidate with similar beliefs as their own so that candidate will choose a judge with those same beliefs. It is necessary for citizens to support justices because justices are there to protect individuals rights.
Do you think people are considering who their candidate of choice will appoint to the supreme court
and how it will affect their government? Should they be?
