Eyes on the Prize-Ayoub El Ashmawi

The part of eyes on the prize that affected me the most was the attempts to move blacks into white public schools. The reason this affected me so much is how much the whites really seemed to hate the students they were attempting to put in the school. They had riots and protests, and tried to beat the students up. It's unbelievable to me how someone can hate another so much because of the color of their skin, to the point where they are willing to riot just to stop desegregation. I can't believe it got to the point where the NATIONAL GUARD had to come in just to protect these students. This part was more shocking to me than anything, as again, I'm not sure what drives this intense hatred.
