Trump's Cabinet - Matthew and Claire

Ben Carson
President elect Donald Trump has selected Dr. Ben Carson for Secretary of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). When asked about Carson, Trump said "Carson has a brilliant mind and is passionate about strengthening communities and families within those communities...We have talked at length about my urban renewal agenda and our message of economic revival, very much including our inner cities." Carson is a very unorthodox selection for a presidential candidate, but being a famed neurosurgeon is a tell that he will incorporate a strong health perspective in his plan. These plans include:
-Addressing America's affordable housing crisis
-Building affordable housing in places with affordable transportation
-Using federal investments as a tool for economic growth

But at the end of the day, Ben Carson is not qualified for the HUD position. He has been a doctor his entire life (besides his presidential campaign which crashed and burned) and he didn't support President Obama's efforts to integrate rural communities. C'mon Trump... you can do better.

Steve Bannon
Trump has appointed Bannon as his chief strategist. Bannon, who served as the head of Trump’s campaign, has no formal experience in politics prior to Trump but does have a masters degree in National Security Studies from Georgetown School of Foreign Service. He also served as an officer in the U.S. navy for seven years. Prior to joining the Trump campaign, Bannon served as the Executive Chair of Breitbart news, a conservative news website that Bannon has described as the internet platform for the alt-right movement.

Betsy DeVos

Trump’s appointee for Secretary of Education, Betsy DeVos, has no formal experience working in education but has spent much of her life donating and advocating to education reform groups,  focusing on groups fighting for school-choice. These groups advocate for an increase in magnet-type schools and tax vouchers for people that attend private schools. DeVos is likely to use her new position to advocate for these programs all over the country.
