The traumatic experience encountered by a sexual assault survivor is one that should not be wished upon anyone. A crime as violent and life-altering as sexual assault should theoretically result in harsh punishment such as extensive jail time for the assailant, yet in many cases becomes silenced, relieving the criminal from any consequences. Sexual assault survivors not only live through such horrible trauma, but also frequently receive minimal to no legal support. The Hunting Ground focused specifically on sexual assault issues within college campuses. Many student survivors told similar stories of college officials and administrators belittling them with the accusation that their cry for help and justice was false, or that they held the guilt and responsibility for the assault. Sexual assault injustices create extreme issues in our society. Without support from others, survivors feel alone making it even less likely for them to file a report, further amplifying the amount of sexual assailants that do not face punishments.
a) EROC (End Rape On Campus) was founded by Annie Clark and Sofie Karasek in the summer of 2013.
b) Part of the organization's key objectives is to end campus sexual assault through education and policy reform at the campus, local, state, and federal levels. Another part is to provide direct support for survivors and their communities.
c) EROC is a fiscally sponsored project of NEO Philanthropy and accepts donations.
d) EROC is portrayed positively in the news, the organization has been mentioned on well known news sites when discussing rape/sexual assault cases or what needs to happen for the future. From what I can see nothing negative and I fail to see how a person could be "against" the EROC organization.
